LIVE in concert!

One of my best friends daughter just went to her 1st LIVE concert – the Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana phenomenon.  I must admit, I felt mildly jealous.

It got me thinking back to one of the best parts of my childhood & adolescent years: concerts!

I got to see New Kids on the Block, Bobby Brown, M.C. Hammer (“turn this mutha out!”), Brandy, The Winans Family Christmas Re-union, The Clark Sisters, Christina Aguillera, Boyz II Men (twice!), R.Kelly & TLC.

Earlier this summer my friends Jamileh, Lubna & I were going to go see Beyonce at the Palace but then decided not to because even the nosebleeds were selling for $75 a pop.  I regret this!  Arrghghg, it would have been so much stinking fun!

I also really wanted to see the Britney Spears Circus tour this year… but alas that opportunity has also come & past.

I’ve decided I’m no longer a keep-it-on-the-down-low Britney fan… I mean, c’mon the chick is an awesome performer.  Who wouldn’t want to see her dance around with a tiger on her head? :)

To balance my pop parade here… I also really love orchestra concerts.  I do! I am totally fascinated by live orchestra music.  I would love to one day see the New York Symphony Orchestra perform.

What were your fave concerts growing up?  Any concerts you’d love to go to now but it just wouldn’t work out for time, money, babysitters or other reasons?

Don’t be ashamed, if you want to see Miley Cyrus or the Jonas Brothers, trust me, I won’t hate! :)

OMG! Grace, I was secretly jealous of some of my latchkey kids that went to the Hannah Montana concert the other day! I will admit that I rock out to her songs (on full blast) in my car while singing into my phone! I feel like the biggest dork, but yes, I would’ve gone to the concert had I been given the opportunity!
lol!

The last live show I saw was Wynton Marsalis with the MSU Orchestra. It was great! Wynton composed some truly beautiful pieces that combined jazz and classical music.

So for our 3rd anniversary I’m thinking of taking Kenny to the R-Kelly concert (he is R’s biggest fan…admittedly im like the 27th biggest fan he is so talented) My fav concerts would have been Boys to Men but they NO SHOWED. I’m huge Beyonce fan.

I’ll admit it- I’d love to see Justin Timberlake in concert :) . I was sad that we didn’t get to see U2 when they rolled around the chicago area recently- their shows are amazing! we saw them at the palace on their last tour.

I was jealous of her too! She was telling me all about the Miley concert and it sounded like she had such great special effects and I think her music is f.u.n! I would love to see Adam Cook in concert or Daughtry. I still love BoyzIIMen!

@ PY, that is a great idea… yall are some R.Kelly fans like a mug. I saw him that one time & that was enough for me. (remember the story? me sitting outside in the hallway at the Palace crying my eyes out because I felt like Jesus was bustin’ down my door. ahahahaha… what a night!) :)

@Jess – a Justin concert would be super fun.

@TS – I don’t think I even know who David Cook is. (sorry) And Daughtry is an A.I. Alum right? It’d be fun to go to an American Idol reunion concert of all the ones who have made it big.

That reminds me, I think it’d be pretty darn sweet to see Kelly Clarkson as well.
