It was a Valentines Day weekend I will not forget. Four (out of four) gold stars for Dave!
He spoke my love language in about 7 different ways.
First, he thought ahead. He took our boys grocery shopping & then hid the food in the basement freezer. He then prepared it all and presented us with this yummy lunch made up of T.G.I.Friday’s appetizers prepared entirely by him! (I was so proud)!
the works!
BBQ Honey & Red Hot Flavor Wings
Ransom picked this cake out for me
After lunch he took me to Miller Auditorium -on Western’s Campus- to see WMU’s world renowned Gold Company for their annual “Love Show.” It was A – M – A – Z – I – N – G! Think of the show Glee, but multiply to about 30 members, throw in performing 15 highly technical & choreographed numbers and a whole lotta talent & that’s Gold Company.
One of the best parts of the show was a visit from a Gold Company alum named Matt Giraud who apparently went pretty far on the show American Idol. In a surprise visit he sang My Funny Valentine. It was so good I just wanted to cry. It was just beautiful in every way.
After the show he took me to get my favorite board game, Settlers of Catan / Cities & Knights. All these years I’ve been going on
Catan On!
and on about this game & we’ve never actually owned it!
[What makes this all the more special? He spent two hours returning all the bottles in our house -$55 worth- so that he could buy it for me! That's 550 bottles! What a guy].
Finally, he presented me with this lovely bracelet from the boys and him, which I find completely adorable.
I am loved.
It was a great day!
Last year on Valentines Day I wrote on my facebook status update: “my husband gave me the best valentines day gift ever!!!!” It was the day I found out I was 5 weeks pregnant with our newborn son, Rhys.
Two years in a row of great valentines days – kind of a nice transition from when Dave & I used to spend every Valentines day at an InterVarsity conference.
Hope you have a GREAT day today as well!

I felt blessed to share in the wonderful meal. I’ll have to admit that I was proud of my son, and so happy God brought you two together, Grace.
