I have like 27,000 pictures on my hard drive. Ay ay ay. In 2009, I decided I would go back to do a photo book for each year beginning in 2007. Over the course of a month I spent hours on a book which after a few mistakes I accidentally deleted. I was a mess with anger. Completely deflated.
Now, I’m sitting under the blanket of guilt I feel over having done a complete scrapbook for Ransom & barely a memory book for Rhys. In addition to that, I want a beautiful photo book that displays the beautiful 10 yr. wedding anniversary trip Dave & I took last May. I absolutely adore the photo book I made of our summer in Vancouver.
Here’s the truth: I love scissors, tape & glue as much as the next scrapbooker, but I am seriously short on time to be doin’ all that. I’m all about the digital now and I have too many awesome pics to let waste away in the ruins of iphoto.
See, what cool things you can do on Shutterfly? This photo is from http://jilljackscraps.blogspot.com/ where you can get free Shutterfly templates.
I must not give up! As a matter of fact, I’m headed over to Shutterfly to begin work on my FREE 8 x 8 photo book. I just found out on facebook from my friend Sarah that you too can create your own 8 x 8 photo book through 9/1/10 by using this code: 8PBA91 ~ ShaWing! (Promotion has ended)! =(
I’m also hosting a Shutterfly giveaway for 3 lucky (randomly-chosen) readers of mine who have a shutterfly story to tell. Have you ever used it? What did you think? Have you heard of Shutterfly? Were you satisfied with your results? Tell me anything & everything your little heart desires about [you + Shutterfly] & you will get put in the running for…

So Grace – do I get something for tipping you off to the free book? That’s got to be good for something! So I’m just like you – love the scissors, die cuts, wire writing tools, you name it (along with the excuse to hang out with other gals way too late!). However, in the last five years I’ve gone digital. I have used Shutterfly, Picaboo, and Snapfish and am now pretty much dedicated to Shutterfly. Here are my recent projects…
* “Things that Go” book for my two year old with all pictures of him and trains, planes, boats, you name it. If it goes and we’ve seen it I included it
* Birthday invitations, thank you notes, return address labels (all matching of course) for my 2 year old’s birthday party
* Thank you trip books for my parents who have blessed us with all family vacations the last few years. I download everyone’s pics before we come home and then put a book together. It’s a great thank you gift for those who have everything (and you can usually get books at a discount when you order multiple copies)
* Regular 4*6 photos – uploaded and sent to multiple Target locations for in-store pick-up by Grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins. Really a great feature!
So I love the digital thing. Someday I may pull out the scrapbooking supplies (which are taking up way too much closet space) – we’ll see…
A quick note on Shutterfly’s customer service (I’m crazy about customer service). One time I had an order that didn’t arrive. When I called my address in the computer was city and state only so it was lost. It was totally my mistake; however, they sent a new order out to me (overnight shipping) immediately at no additional cost.
Wow – either I’m really bored or I really love Shutterfly. I’ll leave you to decide!
Ooooh! I’m going to check this out! We just got back from a missions trip to southern Mexico and I was thinking of doing a photo book after seeing one at a friend’s house. I’m a big scrapbooker too, but time and space are limited right now.I feel like a sell out for going digital, but right now I’m more interested in getting these memories preserved than the method! But I can’t wait to get my Cricut out again and getting back into the paper/scissors/glue creativity of hand’s on scrapbooking! I usually go over to scrapbook.com for inspiration!
Hmmm. I’ve used almost every online photo processing company, including Shutterfly. Their prices for enlargements are very fair, and the quality and customer service was wonderful!!
I haven’t gone the route of digital (or paper) scrapbooking but I have gone to one crop night just to hang out with some friends. I love the idea…digital and hand-on, but it hasn’t made it to the top of the priority list yet…
